This volume of the IARC monographs considers some traditional herbal medicines, including extracts from certain plants of the genera Aristolochia, Rubia, Morinda and Senecio; some mycotoxins, specifically aflatoxins and fumonisin B; and two industrial chemicals, naphthalene and styrene. There was sufficient evidence that herbal remedies containing plant species of Aristolochia were carcinogenic to humans; but limited limited evidence as to the carcinogenicity of naturall occurring mixtures of aristolochic acids. There was also limited evidence as to the carcinogenicity of styrene.
